A rain player that respects you

rainsound.app exists because the simple version of this idea kept getting buried under accounts, ads and apps that stop playing when the screen goes dark.

What it is

A free web player for real rain. Five kinds of rain, thunder, a few quiet companions (campfire, wind, river, birds, city) and three colors of noise, each on its own slider. Six one-tap moods for when you don't want to think. A sleep timer that fades out instead of cutting off. That's the whole product, on purpose.

The rules it's built under

• No account, ever, for anything. There is nothing to log into.
• No tracking. No cookies, no analytics scripts, no pixels. The privacy policy is short because there's nothing to disclose.
• Real recordings. The rain is rain — public-domain (CC0) field recordings, credited on the terms & sounds page. Only the noise colors are synthesized, because noise is math by definition.
• Local first. Sounds download once and live on your device. After the first visit it works offline, and you can install it from your browser like an app.
• It behaves like a music app. Lock the phone, switch tabs — the rain continues, with controls on your lock screen.

Who makes it

rainsound.app is part of plainforge, a small independent studio in Vilnius, Lithuania, building calm, single-purpose web tools. Two siblings share this site's DNA: sonidolluvia.com, the same idea native in Spanish, and soundmachine.app, a wider ambient mixer beyond rain.
